How to Use the Day Counter

  1. Count days between two dates: Enter any start and end date. The calculator instantly shows total days, business days (Monday through Friday), weekend days, and the breakdown in weeks plus days.
  2. Days from today: Enter any number of days and get the exact calendar date that many days from now. Useful for deadlines, subscriptions, or project planning.
  3. Days until a date: Enter a future (or past) date and see exactly how many days until (or since) that date. Great for countdowns to events, vacations, or due dates.
Business days exclude Saturdays and Sundays but do not account for holidays. If you need to exclude specific public holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.), subtract them manually from the business days result.

How Days Are Counted

Total days between two dates is calculated by subtracting the earlier date from the later date and converting milliseconds to days:

Total days = (End date - Start date) / (1000 × 60 × 60 × 24)

Business days are counted by iterating through each day in the range and excluding Saturdays (day 6) and Sundays (day 0):

For each day from start to end:
if day is not Saturday and not Sunday:
    business_days += 1

Example: Monday April 14 to Friday April 18, 2025:

  • Total days: 4 (not counting start day, or 5 counting both endpoints)
  • Business days: 5 (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri)
  • Weekend days: 0

Example: Friday April 11 to Monday April 14, 2025:

  • Total days: 3
  • Business days: 2 (Fri + Mon)
  • Weekend days: 2 (Sat + Sun)

Enter the start date and end date in the calculator above. It counts all days in the range inclusively (counting both the start and end days in the total). For example, April 1 to April 30 = 29 days between them, or 30 days if counting both endpoints. This calculator counts the total span of days between the two dates.
