How to Convert Between Salary Pay Periods

  1. Enter your pay rate. Type any amount in the appropriate field: hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or annual. The calculator fills in all other fields automatically based on a standard 40-hour, 5-day work week.
  2. Adjust hours or days if needed. If you work part-time (e.g., 30 hours/week), change the hours per week value and all conversions update. Freelancers working variable hours can adjust hours per week to match their typical schedule.
  3. Adjust weeks per year. The default is 52 weeks. If you take unpaid time off, reduce the weeks. For a calculation based on only paid work time (excluding holidays), use 50 weeks for a rough estimate.

All calculations use gross pay (before taxes). For take-home pay after federal and state taxes, use our paycheck calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Multiply your hourly rate by hours per week, then by 52. For a standard 40-hour week: hourly × 40 × 52 = hourly × 2,080. A $25/hour rate equals $52,000 per year. A quick mental shortcut: multiply the hourly rate by 2,000 for a round-number estimate ($25 × 2,000 = $50,000, close to the exact $52,000).
